Football season is upon us. I know this because my local television stations are showing two or three commercials promoting the next game during every break and the ads that come up while I'm playing games on my tablet are all football-related. Also, my husband is very excited.
While I often prefer to watch the games from the comfort of my own home (with a coffee table laden with munchies within arm's reach), I definitely wouldn't turn down the opportunity to see that big game in person. Good news: Prepare to take your college football experience to the next level! Dr Pepper®, DIGIORNO®, HOT POCKETS®, EDY’S® and STOUFFER’S® are giving you the chance to win tickets to the 2017 College Football Playoff National Championship game in Tampa, Florida! Three lucky winners will receive two tickets to the game, airfare and hotel accommodations! In addition, Publix gift cards will be awarded to several other lucky winners. Don’t miss out! Visit CollegeFootballChampSweeps.com for your chance to win. Enter between 10/1/16-10/21/16.
Dr Pepper has been involved with college football traditions for a long time, helping to celebrate the victories as well as soften the losses with a flavor as unique as the game itself. They've teamed up with Nestle to offer shoppers great deals at Publix for all their football-related party needs. College football is like no other game and college football fans are like no other fans--the camaraderie, rivalries, and traditions they share set them apart from other fans.
When the crowd gathers to watch their favorite teams, you can literally feed the excitement with STOUFFER’S® entrĂ©es. Made with quality ingredients, these are delicious entrĂ©es you’ll feel good about serving your family and fellow fans. I chose Cheesy Chicken and Broccoli Rice Bake from the large array of options in the Publix that finally went up on my route from work to home. My husband loves that kind of dish, and since I never, ever make it for him, he can make it for himself when I'm out!
I have a deep, longtime affinity for Diet Dr Pepper, a sugar-free version of the soda composed of a signature blend of 23 flavors that makes every sip truly unique. There's nothing like a Dr Pepper, and that's the truth--none of the generic knock-offs will suffice for my taste buds! Its one-of-a-kind flavor makes it ideally suited for becoming a dipping sauce or glaze for meat, as I've done here.
I encourage you to try this sauce! I served it with ham steak, and the sauce adds an element of sweetness that I can't help but crave in just about everything I eat. I think Cherry Dr Pepper would be incredible (and perhaps even better!) for this purpose--if you try it out, let me know how it works!

Have never had a Dr. Pepper...actually have never heard of it ;-)) It must have been a couple of decades since I last I had a cola and I didn't even like it...the sauce sounds really interesting and kinda reminds me of bbq sauce.
Love Dr. Pepper, so I know I would love this sauce!
Husband! The last time I read your blog, he was a fiance! So, congratulations!
I don't often drink soft drinks any more, but when I was a teenager, Dr. Pepper was my drink of choice.
Diet Dr Pepper if a favorite for us! I have never used it in a sauce before but I bet it tastes amazing. I'll have to give that a try for the next game! #client
I remember adding Dr Pepper to baked beans in high school! I remember thinking it made them much tastier!
You'll LOVE this Grace. While reading comments on what employees of fast food restaurants REALLY think of us all, I read with rapt interest descriptions of a fry cook at Pita Pit in California describing his copious use of soft drinks to "candy" jalapenos. He advised using regular Dr. Pepper or Coke to create a syrupy reduced sauce to coat jalapeno slices for a delicious sweet spicy treat. Can't wait to try this uniquely American cooking technique, and thought you of all people would adore the pairing!
@Iceni: Very cool! As it happens, I have an excess of jalapenos! :)
