A Southern Grace: basketball and bagels

basketball and bagels

Yum

While I do love watching basketball, it's important to me to have something on which to nosh during the games.

One food you might not have considered serving to your guests or family as they watch, yell, groan, and cheer is bagels. Bruegger's Bagels, to be specific. Not only do they have a wide variety of bagels on offer (from 12 grain to cinnamon raisin to pumpernickel), you can pick up several kinds of cream cheese while you're at it! Honey walnut is my favorite, but they also have flavors like bacon scallion and jalapeno to make your mouth water.

You can get creative with your spreads too! By coloring plain cream cheese to match your favorite team's uniforms, you'll be exhibiting fantastic team spirit and making the snack even more enjoyable. My favorite team varies depending on who's playing and who I have selected to win that particular game in my bracket, but I know some people are die-hard fans of one and only one team and might enjoy matching their bagel to their fan paraphernalia.

Not naming team names...

A bagel bar need not be daunting--just get your bagels and cream cheeses, plus perhaps some peanut butter, jelly, butter, or even chocolate-hazelnut spread for those who are savory-averse, some utensils for spreading, and plenty of napkins. This will be an easy, filling, and delicious way to feed your guests!

This post was written in partnership with Bruegger's Bagels. All opinions are my own.

Can't remember when I last had a really good bagel. What is that blue spread?

If you'll serve me bagels I'll watch basketball at your house anytime! I LOVE bagels. I'm totally stealing the idea to color the cream cheese. That is brilliant beyond words, Grace! Awesome post!

I used to go to Bruegger's all the time when I lived in the Twin Cities.
That was probably the last time I had an honest to goodness, real bagel.
Time for a road trip!

I always buy a dozen bagels when my kids are home from school! Only way I stay sane with the varying arrival times and schedules!

Coloring the cream cheese is such a clever idea

That is a fun idea to tint the cream cheese. I must admit that with shelter-in-place, I have been indulging in probably way too many bagels. But it's such a nice Sunday morning treat with smoked salmon and all the fixings. ;)
