Yep, the pumpkin goodies are out in force.
Here we have yet another example of the growth of my palate (not the roof of the mouth, of course--that'd just be weird--but the whole sense of taste thing) since I've openly declared my distaste for the ubiquitous orange orb in the past. Things, they are a-changin'.
These muffins are awesome. I'll be honest--I think the simple fact that cinnamon* is the prevalent flavor has a lot to do with my high opinion of them. Heck, for all I know, I may still hate pumpkin itself, but the combination of pumpkin and cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg is a winner.
*Speaking of cinnamon, have you seen this? Hilarious.
What's next? Pumpkin pie? Pumpkin cookies? Pumpkin flan? Soup? Profiteroles? Challah? Pancakes? Fudge? I've seen 'em all, and I can't decide. What's your favorite (cinnamon-containing) pumpkin product?
Purdy Pumpkin Muffins
2 cups sugar
2/3 cup oil
1/3 cup buttermilk
3 large eggs
1 (16-oz) can (2 cups) pumpkin puree
3 cups all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
1 cup golden raisins
Preheat oven to 375°F. Line muffin tin.
Combine the sugar and oil in large bowl to blend; mix in the eggs and pumpkin.
Sift flour, cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, baking soda, salt and baking powder into another large bowl; stir into the pumpkin mixture. Mix in the walnuts and raisins.
Divide the batter equally into the cups.
Bake until tester inserted into center comes out clean, about 18-20 minutes.

I also used to severely dislike the pumpkin - but I did thoroughly enjoy some pumpkin, cinnamon and nutmeg scones I made - it seems to become tastier when baked into sweet treats like your muffins
Those look so good! I love pumpkin bread and muffins. Strangely, I don't like pumpkin pie. I think there's just not enough spice for me.
I haven't started on my pumpkins..Its chilly, I would love creamy pumpkin soup...
Great recipe. They look so moist. Love the addition of cloves!
I've got a pumpkin recipe on my to-do list for next week. I prefer it in sweets myself. I like cinnamon in pretty much everything. It's one of those go-to spices for me.
Your muffins looks super yummy!
I don't usually like pumkin =S Although there a few exceptions to that in certain dishes (usually where the pumkin taste is masked by something else) haha.....
I haven't had any pumkin sweet things before, but your muffins actually sound and look really good! (actually, they don't look like pumkin muffins at all!) It's definitely because of the cinnamon =)
I love savoury pumpkin stuff - soup, roasted etc but must say that it's not the first flavour I think off when choosing a sweet. This muffin I could definitely go for. And who knew you can't swallow a tablespoon of cinnamon, not srue I needed to know that, but hopefully it'll come in handy some day.
Those are purdy! Miss D. just asked to make something pumpkin a few days ago--this just might fit the bill! Thanks!
I agree, cinnamon and pumpkin are amazing together! Your muffins sure are purdy, Grace...very appropriately named! :)
I'm hoping to get all my pumpkin pureeing done this weekend...some pumpkin muffins sound like the perfect way to start using it! I love muffins when they're packed with spices and nuts and raisins...
Cinnamon is the bacon of the sweets world! :) It makes everything yummier!
I'm hoping to jump on the pumpkin bandwagon this week.

I love anything pumkin Grace, so your muffins look amazing to me. And yes, cinnamon has to be present with the pumpkin to be totally delicious! Great job with these muffins; I'm now craving them!
Pumpkin pasta, pumpkin soup, pumpkin scones, pumpkin brownies.......................love pumpkin!
Yea, pumpkin! Glad to see such a mouthwatering pic of your pumpkin treat. Yum.
And the video? Oh my gosh. Can you say "idiots?" Seriously.
It sure is almost pumpkin time Grace! I'm so excited about Halloween-and these pumpkin goodies too!
wish I had that for breakfast... I can't wait to read about pumpkin fudge
Pumpkin goodies are so irresistible! Your muffins look terrific. *drool*
Cheers,
Rosa
Mmmm pumpkin. It's why Fall is he best time of the year!! add a little cinnamon..perfect!
I like most things pumpkin, except those soggy, gummy pumpkin pies that come from the grocery store.
Mimi
I like pumpkin things. Muffins are definitely near the top, along with pumpkin bread. Pumpkin soup always sounds like a good idea too though I've never made it myself.
Pumpkin season is a favorite around ourn house! And your muffins looks delish and moist! And you get to pour in your favorite cinnamon!
Grace, check this blog for the best pumpkin recipe. I'm not a huge pumpkin fan, but I LOVE these!

I bought some pumpkin fudge for my dearly beloved, and he is NOT sharing. So it must be good. I put a ton of cinnamon and nutmeg and cloves in my pumpkin pie, so I think you'd like it. I saw a recipe for pumpkin rice pudding last week, and I have sort of a yen for it now...Maybe after I make some muffins.
Welcome to the pumpkin club! These muffins look fantastic. Some personal faves of mine are pumpkin cinnamon rolls, pumpkin flan, and pumpkin pancakes. I do love pumpkin!
The pumpkin butterscotch muffins on my blog are the best EVAR. It's such a great pairing! But I might have to give these a shot, too. (Just not pie. I do not like pumpkin pie. Ewy.)
And the cinnamon thing. I seriously don't get it.
I'm just now getting my feet wet with pumpkin too. I would like to make these when my grocery store gets some canned pumpkin in stock. These look so moist and delicious!
Even if you disliked pumpkin completely, I'd still be your friend. But since you like it, we can be better friends :) I love using pumpkin in savory dishes like my creamy pumpkin pasta sauce (made with cottage cheese!) and pumpkin chili.
Pumpkin pie isn't my favorite either- I'd rather have sweet potato any day. But those muffins? They look really scrumptious. My favorite pumpkin "thing" so far has to have been a pumpkin swirl cheesecake with a Pecan Sandies crust that my niece made for Thanksgiving dinner a few years back. She did not share the recipe. :(
It IS that time of year. It's crazy how fast this year has gone by. But I am ready -- more than ready -- for some good pumpkin treats. Bring 'em on! ;)
I love this time of year and its sweet treats! These pumpkin muffins are just too good to miss!
Hi Grace,
Those muffins are divine...yummy yumm..Your newest follower!!:)

Grace, are you actually trying to make me die of happiness?
Spices and pumpkin? I am so, so in!
Grace...your Purdy muffins sound scrumptious! Of course...it's gotta be due to the fact that your favourite spice is heightening the whole treat ;O)
It's a toss up for me between cookies and muffins with squash...luv em both!
Ciao for now,
Claudia
it took me a while to get into the pumpkin swing of things. i'm kind of there, kind of. send me some of these beaut's will ya? you know for more inspiration

Go crazy on the pumpkin - I'm sure you'll end up falling in love with it! These muffins sound absolutely perfect.
I can't pick a favorite - I love all things with pumpkin! The muffins look amazing.
Oh Grace, you pumpkin muffins look so good...I have one can and still not decide what to do with it :-)
that close up photo is so enticing! i love all things pumpkin as long as they are sweet!
Haha this may just be the gateway drug to pumpkin for you. You'll come over to the dark side soon. I have faith.
These look awesome! You're totally right though...cinnamon makes all things better.
I already love pumpkin and all those wonderful sweet spices, so this is an easy sell to me. Delicious!
Hooray you are starting to love pumpkin :) The addition of cinnamon and other warm spices helps a lot too.
These do look very "purdy"!
I've never been that crazy about pumpkin either; maybe an occasional piece of my mom's pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving, but that's about it.
I love muffins and I LOVE cinnamon on just about anything. The Vietnamese Cinnamon from Penzey's is the best!
I'll have to try these when I finally decide that I'm in a baking mood.
I am loving all the pumpkin recipes out there right now but I would be thrilled to share something right out of your kitchen.
So purdy! So very very purdy! Love the ingredients. Perfect fall/autumn food.
Heidi xo
You always make such tempting things.
Glad you've got a newfound love for pumpkin! My favorite has got to be pumplin chocolate chip muffins...so your muffins look pretty tempting right now!
These look super yummy! I love cinnamon-y pumpkin foods!
I vote that you try pumpkin pie next time, because I just have a hard time believing there are people out there who don't like it. ;)
Pumpkin pie! But these may change my mind!
Oh what a wonderful blog, Chaya send me here!!
Goodies galore!!
Defintely my caught-my-husband-with-them pumpkin muffins. Kidding- kinda. They are on my blog. I just love them.
Ohhh my gawd!! That video is hysterical!!! (until the very end...then I almost felt bad).
What a great muffin recipe :)
You are so right - pumpkin by itself, not so much. With the pumpkin pie spice blend & sweetener -a BIG YES in my book too. Great looking muffins girl!
I have always enjoyed pumpkin in cakes and breads. My palate for soups and stews took awhile longer.
These pumpkin muffins are stunning. Perfect anytime of day.
Ahhh... welcome to the dark side, my friend. :)
My vote for your next project... pumpkin bread! :)
Pretty indeed, love your golden raisin addition and wish I had one of these for breakfast tomorrow!
Loving these muffins.. My fav pumpkin item used to be my pumpkin chocolate chips bread.. and pumpkin bars... I recently made a pumpkin swirl cookie Ill be posting soon that is my new fav!
Those muffin pictures are crazy! They are tapping me on the shoulder and saying "make me".
Glad you found a pumpkin thing to love. :) My fiance says he doesn't like pumpkin things yet likes the pumpkin muffins I make... and then we determined that it's pumpkin pie he doesn't like! My favourite pumpkin baked good... maybe pumpkin bread/loaf. Pumpkin cheesecake is really good too! And I saw a recipe for pumpkin bagels that I really want to try.
Agreed. The "pumpkin pie spices" are some of my favorites. Pumpkin profiteroles? Brilliant! Now, I had some delicious profiteroles in Paris last week ... and I DO have some sweet potato ice cream left in my freezer ... hmm.
I don't need convincing that pumpkin and cinnamon is great together. Now hand over some muffins!
Those muffins look incredible!! I love all things pumpkin now, although pie is still last on my list of favorites....and your images are simply breath taking! thanks for such a wonderful post!
And oh so purdy looking they are...and I bet they taste purdy darn good too.The cake looks so moist and wonderful Grace.
Ha. I think we both know we could succeed in the cinnamon challenge.
Amazing looking muffins! I'd be interested in a pumpkin challah or a pumpkin flan recipe from you. :)
Mmmmmm... Pumpkin muffins, cinnamon, a fall fave. Glad to see you've come to your senses. ;)
Man these muffins sure do look delicious! I love pumpkins though. My favorite? Now that is tough! I love pumpkin soup and any dessert w. pumpkin. I agree with the above comment about pumpkin challah.
I love pumpkin and I love muffins - you're singing my song :o) I reckon pumpkin soup next, with cinnamon and curry spices :)
Gosh, such delicious looking muffin! Thanks for the recipe. Have a great day!
Kristy
That first shot is amazing - I adore pumpkin!
I always look forward to the pumpkin flavored ice creams and frozen yogurts that show up around now... and have always loved pumpkin breads. I'm sure I'd love the muffin even better with some cream cheese frosting! Happy halloween
As a serious lover of all things pumpkin. . .this looks amazing. I see muffins in my future
My favourite (and it has lotsa cinnamon!) is this pumpkin loaf: http://montcarte.ca/2009/11/25/pumpkin-spice-cranberry-bread-with-walnuts-andor-chocolate-chips/
Your muffins looks incredibly moist. They sound like the quintessential pumpkin muffin recipe.
I was looking for new ideas to use pumpkin puree, these muffins sound great!
