As a kid, my experience with celery was pretty much limited to that popular peanut-butter-filled and raisin-toppped snack or seeing the stalks in a basket of wings (though at the time, I couldn't understand why anyone would want to replace the taste of wings and ranch with that of celery). Fortunately, I've learned to enjoy it in other capacities, and when I saw a rare recipe with celery as the star, I decided I needed to give it a try.
I should note that it seems as though someone has flipped a switch inside my brain, as all of a sudden, I can't get enough soy sauce into my mouth. I've been actively searching for recipes that call for it, and I've been adding it to dishes in which a reasonable person would say it doesn't belong. I'm not sure what's happened, but I'm not opposed to it at all!

I liked this as a side dish, but I also liked it as a topping on a salad. There are great flavors, and never fear--that awesome crunch of celery remains intact.

Celery is the only thing that I'm not crazy for but I'd definitely try it just because I live in hope! :D
ReplyDeleteWell, first of all, your puppy's not a puppy anymore! What a cutie.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely broke out laughing at your post title and so true. :)
Lots of yummy ingredients here and, like you, never have been a celery eater, but I'm going to have to make this.
I've never heard this title so I was intrigued! This year we'll be growing celery for the first time so I'm going to try this recipe! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeletePS. Cute puppy!
PSS. I love your glass bowl!
I've never served celery as the star of a recipe... I am liking this idea! My son LOVES anything with soy sauce so I know he will love it.
ReplyDeleteYour pup seriously looks so much like my Gracie girl. What a cutie.
Great idea! I like celery, but you're right, it's never the star of the show. And the side by side comparisons of your puppy are great. She's a fine looking dog.
ReplyDeletelook delicious Grace :)
ReplyDeleteI've never been able to say that I like celery. At most, I can tolerate it. However.... You have never led me astray on flavor choices, so I should try this.
ReplyDeleteLooks like your pup is smoking a pipe :)
Hi Grace, your little puppy is getting so big, so adorable. Love crunchy salads, I bet this is delicious!
ReplyDeleteOnly celery? It's not enough for me.
ReplyDeleteEven for me, this is just too healthy, Grace. I love celery, esp. when stirfried with sliced beef :-))
ReplyDeleteCute puppy and very cute boomerangs
ReplyDeleteThis recipe sounds delicious and I will definitely try it as a side dish. Like you mentioned, it really is a rare recipe that let's celery be the star. And I'm the weirdo that likes celery... alot!
ReplyDeleteI also like celery! The crunch is awesome and holds up so well. But it does throw people for a loop. There was an episode of Top Chef where someone had to use celery and they were like, whaaaaat?
ReplyDeleteI keep celery on hand and use it in a variety of dishes, but have never make it the "star" of the dish. Will def. give this a try!
ReplyDeleteYour little friends are adorable!
Thanks for sharing another to incorporate more celery in my rotation. Those that don't care of it should read the benefits it may just change your mind.
ReplyDeleteI'm a bona fide celery lover, so this recipe is going on my Make List. And, I love your bowl with the chickens!!!
ReplyDeleteGood idea
