S'mores make me feel like a kid again.

Although the classic s'mores combination of graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate is delicious and ingenious, my adult palate tends to crave something a little more complex. The idea of cream pie s'mores didn't come to me until I noticed the new design on the Edwards® pies in the freezer section at Walmart. They have SO many delicious varieties, including Turtle Cream Pie and Triple Coconut Pie. They even have a S'mores Pie, which would obviously make an amazing batch of cream pie s'mores, but for this attempt, I used the Reese's Peanut Butter Crème Pie.

Edwards pies are perfect for ANY occasion, whether you're celebrating a new birth (coming soon!), graduation, or Father's Day. Each dessert is filled with velvety layers of sweet cream and completed with decadent toppings, and all are meticulously whipped, toasted, sprinkled, and drizzled to ensure excellence in every delicious bite. They may have a new look but they still have the same decadent taste.

This was such a fun treat to make and eat! I was initially worried that it would be a mega mess, but the cream pie held together well and just melted into the warm marshmallow. There was crunch, there was creaminess, there was stickiness, and there was bliss. Can you imagine Georgia Pecan Pie s'mores or Cookies 'n Creme pie s'mores (also just plain delicious on its own!)? Oh, how the mouth waters to even think of all the possibilities! What would you try first?

Cream Pie S'mores
(printable recipe)
Serves 10-12
Ingredients:
  • 1 Edwards® cream pie, just about any variety, thawed
  • 20-24 graham crackers, split in half
  • 10-12 jumbo marshmallows
Directions:
Using a small biscuit cutter, remove 10-12 rounds of cream pie from the pie. I started on the outside and worked my way in. Incidentally, don't you dare waste the leftovers--they'll make a great nosh later!
Place one jumbo marshmallow on 10-12 of the graham cracker halves, depending on how many circles of pie you obtain.
Microwave each marshmallow for 7-10 seconds only, watching closely. You just want them to be soft enough to squish and not exploding all over your microwave.
Place the round of pie on the remaining graham cracker halves, then press the graham cracker with the melted marshmallow on it right down atop the pie.
Push gently or aggressively, depending on how much mess you wish to make!
Eat immediately and enjoy!

  4. Oh my gosh Grace! Why are you doing this to me? I have no s'mores ingredients and certainly no cream pies around here at the moment. This is soooo happening as soon as I get those ingredients in my hands!

  12. Grace, I love the Reese cup idea. My favorite. You can never go wrong with chocolate and peanutbutter, in my opinion! I have never tried Edwards Pie's, but we love to shop at Wal-mart, so we will definitely check them out! My daughter, Gabby, is 6, so we made the standard s'mores for the fourth. Thanks for sharing!
