Nothing spoils a delicious meal like heartburn. If you've never experienced it, count your blessings!

Food is a pretty important part of the winter holidays, at least in my family, and that means that we can't let pesky little (or big) annoyances like heartburn barge in and ruin things. I know I often steer clear of certain foods because of the effect they have on me, but when the holiday season comes around, we shouldn't have to miss out on the foods we love!

Lots of foods have been known to cause heartburn, including things that are fatty, spicy, citrus, or chocolate. That pretty much sums up the spread at our dinner table! Good news, folks: With a little planning, you can partake of those fiery foods with no worries. Nexium® 24HR 42ct Tablets can give you all-day and all-night protection against heartburn, though it's important to note that it does NOT provide immediate relief. Since it may take 1-4 days for full effect, it's essential to focus on preparedness! Nexium® 24HR is for frequent heartburn, and that means that it keeps working even after those holiday indulgences.

An ingredient that comes to mind as something I often avoid is jalapenos, which is unfortunate since we had (and continue to have) a massive crop. One of our holiday traditions is to nosh in the morning and noontime in preparation for the afternoon/evening feast, so appetizers are plentiful at our gatherings. Put the two together, and jalapeno popper dip is the obvious answer!

This is creamy and flavorful, and it can be as hot as you can stand. Gooey cheese and a buttery, crunchy bread crumb topping seal the deal, making this a dip people will hover around until it disappears.

Don’t let frequent heartburn ruin your holidays and have you looking longingly at those buttery mashed potatoes and decadent chocolate cake! Get to a Walgreens and have that Nexium® 24HR ready to go!

Hot Jalapeno Popper Dip
(printable recipe)
Makes about 4 cups
Ingredients:
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 4-6 jalapeños, seeded and finely chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup grated Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup Panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
In a medium bowl, combine the cream cheese, sour cream, seasonings, jalapeños, and shredded cheeses.
Mix thoroughly with a spoon or spatula until smooth and evenly combined.
Spread the mixture into a 1- or 2-quart baking dish.
In a second bowl, combine the Panko and Parmesan and stir with a fork until combined; mix in the melted butter.
Sprinkle this over the cream cheese mixture in the baking dish.
Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the mixture is hot and the topping is golden.
Serve warm with baguette slices, vegetables, or anything else desired.

I love having a dip on hand to visit while I'm working on Thanksgiving dinner. This one looks great! Love the jalapenos and mix of cheeses.

The dip sounds great! Would probably kill my husband though. See your jalepenos are coming in handy!

Not a fan of hot stuff here - poor hubby gets terrible heartburn. But having dips on the table while preparing Thanksgiving dinner is a good way to keep people from "helping" and sampling!

That dip looks fabulous, Grace, but I'd definitely need Nexium if I ate that! :)

I'm not so good with the hot stuff, but the Southern husband does love his jalapeños...so I think he needs his own personal bowl of this! :)

I have never had such a dip, they seem to be quite popular in America, but are pretty much unknown here. I love the look of it, it must taste amazing with all that cheese and jalapenos.
