A Southern Grace: moosen and meese

moosen and meese

Yum

If you're on the hunt for a dip that's as easy to make as it is delicious to eat, look no further.

I can tell you're not convinced that such a thing exists, so I have three important words for you: 1)Nutella 2)is 3)involved. The combination of cream cheese, whipped topping, and chocolate-hazelnut spread just makes a mouth sing (perhaps in tune, perhaps not). The texture of this dip is like a mousse, a word that always makes me think of this hilarious Brian Regan set. If you watch it and don't laugh, you must be having a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day.

I brought this to a little reception we held for some of the people we weren't able to invite to our wedding. It was a lovely party and I got several compliments on the dip! I firmly believe that those compliments were sincere and not just given because it was a fiesta celebrating my marriage...but if you have your doubts, just give this recipe a try and see for yourself!

Mousy Moosey Moussey Nutella Dip
(printable recipe)
Makes about 4 cups
Ingredients:
  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese
  • 3 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4-1 cup Nutella (or other chocolate-nut spread)
  • Pinch salt
  • 1 (8-ounce) tub whipped topping (like Cool Whip)
Directions:
In a mixing bowl, using an electric hand mixer, whip cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth, about 1 minute.
Add vanilla, Nutella, and salt and blend until well combined.
Add half of the whipped topping and gently fold mixture until nearly blended then add remaining whipped topping and gently fold mixture until well blended.
Serve with strawberries, vanilla wafers, pretzels, or even graham crackers.

I would probably lick the whole bowl clean if I made this...I am weak in front of such a great dip.

Just curious, what is whipped topping? Whipped cream?

On vanilla wafers even--outstanding! I have been wanting to try making my own Nutella after seeing a few online recipes.

@Angie: You can certainly use real whipped cream, but I used Cool Whip, which is labeled as a whipped topping here in the US.
