It probably already has a name, as it's not that incredibly inventive. All I've done is take your basic White Russian (which, for the innocents among you, contains vodka, coffee-flavored liqueur, and cream) and used coconut rum instead of vodka. My understanding is that the drink got its name because vodka is a Russian booze, so obviously, a change must be made. The Caribbean is where most rum is produced, but White Caribbean sounds grammatically incorrect and possibly offensive. The Dude loved his White Russians (I'm sorry, his Caucasians), and since this is a lighter, sweeter, more girly version, perhaps I could stretch and call it a Dudette? No, I'm not satisfied.
I'll gladly take your suggestions, but for now, I'll be calling it a White Sissy because this drink doesn't taste like alcohol at all. Nope, it tastes like dessert, and that's just fine with me. In fact, it's my preference.
White
Makes 1 drink (but may be replicated two or three times more, depending on the kind of day the consumer has had)
Ingredients:
- 1 part coconut rum (I prefer Malibu)
- 1 part coffee-flavored liqueur (Kahlua for me, please)
- 4 parts milk, cream, or half-and-half
- Ice
- Shredded sweetened coconut, toasted, for garnish
Prepare your glass by dipping the rim into water and then into the toasted coconut, rolling it around to coat the lip nicely. Add ice, then pour the liquids into the glass, stir, and savor. Or chug. Your drinking habits, frequencies, and quantities aren't any of my business.
A wonderful cocktail! I love the flavour of coffee.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Rosa
That sounds good! I love a white Russian, but this sounds better. And I have a bottle of malibu!
ReplyDeleteI have a thing for white cocktails, love this one, and its name :)
ReplyDeleteThis sounds amazing! I love creamy cocktails that taste like desserts :D
ReplyDeleteha, I like the white sissy!
ReplyDeleteI want one no matter what you call it!!! I'd love it if you linked up to Tipsy Tuesday on my other blog, Grey is the New Black tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteRum and coffee liqueur, I love the combination!
ReplyDeleteOh my....that does sound divine. Not a sissy if you love these!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like a great drink!
ReplyDeleteI would choose this over a White Russian any day!! Imagine if it was also made with coconut instead of regular milk...hmmm.
ReplyDeleteWho cares what you call it if it's in your mouth? Looks like drinking a delicious cloud.
ReplyDeleteI think the name is great.... but the important part is even better.... just happen to have the ingredients on hand...LOL!
ReplyDeleteI might call it a Malibu Cream Coffee, though that sounds like it could be warm. Yup naming is tough...
ReplyDeleteYou can call this drink whatever you like, Grace. After all, you did create it:)
ReplyDeleteIf this drink was made with a coconut liqueur, I'd be inclined to call it a daiquiri. Since it is made with Kahlua, and Kahlua Day is this Friday, it may just make a good White Maverick!
All I know for sure is, I need one, NOW!!! Thanks for sharing, Grace...
I love Kahlua and I love Malibu, but I've never had them together. Love this idea! I'm terrible at naming things, but White Sissy has a nice ring to it.
ReplyDeleteHehe a white sissy will do me fine! I also like cocktails that taste like dessert :D
ReplyDeleteI don't care what it's called, I'll take one please! I've forgotten how much I liked white russians!
ReplyDeleteHaha, I used to try to come up with clever names for all of my drinks but it took too much time. Now, if it doesn't come to me quickly, I just call it what it is. This looks so yummy!! I do love myself a "White Russian" the drink.....so i can only imagine how delicious this would be with coconut rum. YUM YUM!! If you're interested come link up this drink with my Thursty Thursday linkup! hopelesslyeverafter.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI actually like "Dudette"! I don't think I could come up with anything better.
ReplyDeleteIt looks pretty AND tasty. I love that you garnished with coconut. YUM.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice combination...coconut rum and Kahlua...and yes, like the toasted coconut...awesome!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the rest of your week Grace :)
You are making me think warm and Carribean, so White Sands? But then I think sand is gritty, so I am really no help. But it does sound delicious!
ReplyDeleteSo perfect for those times when you want to drink your dessert. Almost like a boozy milk shake. What could ever be wrong with that? ;)
ReplyDeleteI am totally on board with this coconutty milky alcohol idea!
