A Southern Grace: looks aren't everything

looks aren't everything

Yum

Hummus is not picture-friendly. Black bean hummus is, apparently, downright ugly.

Yikes.

On a positive (and far more important) note, black bean hummus is delicious and nutritious, and the tubs coming out of Eat Well Embrace Life are perfect proof of that. I got to taste a variety of their flavors, and I can say with all honesty that each and every one was unique and scrumptious. My favorites were the Sweet and Spicy Black Bean Hummus, Edamame Hummus with Roasted Red Peppers, and Tuscan White Bean with Roasted Pine Nuts, while my boyfriend preferred the Zesty Sriracha Carrot Hummus and Wasabi Edamame Hummus with Ginger. I also really liked the Beet Hummus with Sunflower Seeds and Apricots, which marks the first time ever that I've actually found beets enjoyable. Several other varieties are offered too, like Spicy Red Lentil Chipotle Hummus and Spicy Yellow Lentil Hummus with Sunflower Seeds.

Delicious...but better with hummus.

You can find this healthy snack everywhere from Harris Teeter to Sheetz! Check out their Facebook page and Twitter feed, too. This is seriously some of the best hummus I've ever eaten, and the flavors are so adventurous and fun. Each tub has some sort of topping in the center, whether it's a corn and pepper salsa or chopped fresh apricot. YUM. Crudite, chips, crackers, and flatbreads are all suitable vehicles for these hummuses (hummi?), though a spoon (or finger) will suffice in a crunch.

Since these images are not so lovely (and belie the deliciousness of the hummus!), I feel compelled to include at least one beautiful picture. Here is my Christmas crack, a recipe every person should check out and also make. You'll find the recipe here and some pointers here.
