We definitely took advantage of that grill. We fired it up on our first night there and made some barbecue grilled chicken and corn. Our breasts were huge (DD, in fact) and the cooking process took a lot longer than we anticipated, but it was ultimately worth the wait. Something that made the chicken extra special and unique was the addition of some apple moonshine grilling sauce from Southern City Flavors. The tart taste of apples sweetened with honey and a little kick of apple moonshine from the great state of Tennessee made the chicken moist and flavorful and full of zip.
Southern City Flavors is responsible for lots of tasty sauces, jams, and jellies (Zach's peach jalapeno sauce was my favorite--sweet and super spicy), not to mention pancake and waffles mixes and two types of peanut brittle. Find out if there's a store near you or, you know, just order online. Use the code Grace at checkout and get 25% off any order until November 31!
Incidentally, there are no pictures of the final product because we were so famished, eating easily took priority over taking photos. The chicken was delicious and just as tasty in a sandwich the next day, pulled and topped with a little more grilling sauce. If you'd like a chance to win your own prize package of goodies from Southern City Flavors, leave a comment telling me if you've ever tasted moonshine. Don't worry, it'll stay between us. :) Comments will close in one week, on October 16th (my Mamster's birthday, a very good day!), and I'll contact the winner shortly thereafter. Luck be with you!
Missing you. |
Though Southern City Flavors did provide me with samples of some of their excellent products, the opinions stated above are my own. I'm far too clever to be bribed.
In the South, if you stay late enough, moonshine will definitely make an appearance at some point...it usually ends poorly...lol
ReplyDeleteI am sure this was a wonderful day and the chicken must have been delicious. The salty air does give a good appetite. ~~ Catherine

ReplyDeleteI'm from Georgia. Yes!
ReplyDeleteSomeone gave us a bottle of white lightning once. I decline to say whether we ever in fact sampled it, or whether the bottle might still be with us. The chicken looks fabulous! And I'm missing corn on the cob, too.
ReplyDeleteI'm from the south and can say I've never tasted any. lol :)
ReplyDeleteAh, yes. The one and only time I had moonshine was when I was in college. After a night of bar hopping, I had a splitting headache and awful (AWFUL!!)hangover. I dragged myself out of bed to get some Advil, and washed it down with what I thought was water in a Poland Spring bottle I found in my boyfriend's fridge. Only thang was...it was MOONSHINE and quite possibly the last thing I ever needed. Haha... that was over a decade ago.
ReplyDeleteI'm missing summer corn already. Our farmers market stopped selling it last week alas. Summer goes by all too fast. But at least, we still have weather warm enough to grill.
ReplyDeleteI've never tasted moonshine! I would like to, someday :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a tasty dinner. I love the last shot of the beach - so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI have never tried moonshine but I'd be willing to. ;-)
