a christmas contest

Looking for a new craft to try out during the holidays? I have two words for you: Cookie Kabobs.

More specifically, in four words, Crafty Christmas Cookie Kabobs. They're so easy to make, folks, and the fun you can have is immeasurable. My mom and I tackled this project together and had a blast, so being under the age of 20 certainly isn't a necessity. Here's some of what we started with...

...and here are some examples of what we created:

Heck, you can even start with items as basic as cookies and mini muffins...

...and build from there:

Fudge would be a great building block, as would chunks of pound cake or fresh fruit. Oooh, circus peanuts would work too! Buttercream frosting makes a wonderful glue, and nothing is off limits. When your kabobs are finished, you can eat them or package them up as gifts using some plain ol' press 'n seal:

If you think this sounds like an activity you'd like to try with your family, do it and take pictures of your final product and send them to me at asoutherngrace @gmail.com sometime before the end of the year. I'll compile the pictures and let everyone vote for their favorites. The entry with the most votes will win some goodies from Thirty-One--a navy lunch break thermal and a coupon clutch (in a pattern called Island Damask)! Happy kabobbing!
