my buddy, my buddy

Remember that doll? Well, I guess I don't remember the doll as much as I remember the jingle--"My buddy, my buddy, wherever I go, he goes..."

That's neither here nor there, except for the fact that these stellar bars are inexplicably entitled Chocolate Peanut Buddy Bars. I don't really get it, do you?

This recipe, originally discovered on the back of a bag of chocolate chip morsels, has been a favorite in my family for quite some time. The Great Mambino especially loves 'em.

I followed the recipe except for two things--I used Barney butter (it's baaaaack), and rather than using some of the morsels for a frosting, I put them all in the batter. That's just how I roll. OH, and I sprinkled the top with some chocolate salt, a wonderful gift sent to me long ago by Katie of Salt and Chocolate (appropriate blog name, yes?)--a long-overdue thanks, Katie!

They're moist, chocolatey, and aromatic, and they truly melt in your mouth. Perhaps if you make them and realize how wonderful they are, you'll forgive me for getting that jingle stuck in your head...

Oh, and in case you were curious, the beasts are keeping me busy:

My buddies, my buddies.
And I'm so glad the plunger's in the background--talk about a party pooper
(insert rimshot here)(and go ahead and groan).

Now if I could just teach them to lift the lid and use it.

  53. PARTY POOPER! Teehee. I love it. You're so clever.

I really, really hate plunging toilets. I always try to flush a couple times before I pull out the plunger. You know? In hopes that you won't have to use it.

Anyway, these look delicious. Cute kittens! I love cats. Not much of a dog person. Now I'm rambling.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I love the kittie photo. It's like the mug shots for wanted criminals that you see in the paper. If seen in public do not approach, armed and dangerous - with giant slaying levels of cuteness.

    ReplyDelete
  55. That looks AMAZING! And I need to find some of this chocolate salt.

The "My Buddy" jingle just cracked me up. My younger brother used to have his "My Buddy" doll attached at the hip. The hair was all scraggly because he used to pull on it and sing "My Buddy, My Buddy... my buddy ME." hahahaha Thanks for the memories.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I can so take a big bite of that!

And the kitties are so cute!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Yum, my favorites, chocolate, peanut butter, salt... what in the world is barney butter? I know you bring it up occasionally, must check back to figure it out. and chocolate salt? Your beasts are growing large!

  64. I love the addition of the chocolate salt. I had Espresso Chip Gelato over the weekend. Gelato is almost always amazing but the most special thing about this flavor was the obvious bit of salt in the chocolate. Somehow it made the whole taste a new experience.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I remember the name, but not the jingle thank gawd. The last thing I need is another ditty surfacing while I'm shopping. People stare at me. Honestly. And looks like you've got two good fur buddies there. Our new one never holds still long enough to get her photo. Chocolate salt, huh? ; )

And what cuuuuute kitties. I didn't even notice the plunger 'til you mentioned it.

  71. Salt and chocolate are a great combination! (my favorite example is alternately eating M&M's and movie popcorn.)

Anyway, these look fanTAStic! Wow, nice pictures too.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I made these! My husband and I have a word for something that is very good- 'awesome-asaurus'. This is how I would describe these!
