Dare I?
Yes, I dare.
The snickerdoodle is my favorite cookie.*
There. I said it. I couldn't pick a favorite candy bar, but as of this instant, I can pick a favorite cookie.
*This declaration is subject to change.
It's hard to narrow down all the cookies in all the lands to even a few favorites, but I simply can't deny how strongly I feel about snickerdoodles. The nudge that sent me over the edge into absolute certainty was the addition of my freshly-grated Vietnamese cinnamon. It added a whole new level of tastiness to the already luscious and so-buttery-it-melts-right-on-your-tongue cookie.
I'm sure nearly everyone has a go-to snickerdoodle recipe, and I do too, but as I am currently cream-of-tartar-less, I opted to try a new recipe using baking powder instead. Although the resulting cookie was good (the utter excellence of the cinnamon-sugar coating aside), it just wasn't as praiseworthy as my tried-and-true. Combining that recipe with the fresh cinnamon would be extremely detrimental to my wardrobe...
Don't forget about my Cinnamon Celebration--the deadline is in two weeks. Just a spoonful of cinnamon helps the aliment go down. :)
I loove snickerdoodles...but I still can't decide what my favorite cookie is! I'm a sugar-addict :P. You know what's funny, I've never made 'em with cream of tartar! I think I'm missing something here :D!
ReplyDelete...add me to the "I love snickerdoodles" list, who can resist a sweet with cinnamon ?
ReplyDeleteGrace, I love the snickerdoodle flavor but have never had one of the cookies. I've had snickerdoodle pie, cake,& bars but no cookies. I've even thought to try making an ice cream form of it but again no cookies! Weird, huh!
ReplyDelete~ingrid
They are my favorite cookie too!! Homemade, snickerdoodles that is. I've tried for years, but cannot duplicte my mom's snickerdoodle. These look very similar.
ReplyDeleteI am with you....Snickerdoodles are my favorite cookie too. My husband asked me to make some the other night, but I am trying to resist fattening foods (my jeans are about cut off my circulation these days).
ReplyDeleteIngrid, over at 3 B's (I believe she commented above me) has a recipe for Snickerdoodle Blondies that I am DYING to try. I love Blondies too...so that would be a deadly combination for my tight jeans!
I think I will make these snickerdoodles for Super Bowl..and then feed most of them to my sons and their friends:-)
Oh yeah I bet the addition of the Vietnamese cinnamon made it alllllll that much better. For sure. I have a boring cup of coffee now and will kill for one of these little gems.
ReplyDeleteSugar cookies are my favorites. But snickerdoodles are pretty similar, so I should probably bake some and think this over more carefully.
ReplyDeletewow, the name snickerdoodles sounds fascinating and the cookies that will melt in mouth...great going..yes you have dared, i must say.
ReplyDeleteI think my favourite cookie these days is a variation of oatmeal...but Snickerdoodles would be in the running:D
ReplyDeleteI can easily declare the Snickerdoodle as my favorite cookies!
ReplyDeleteI am such a flake; I change my mind everytime I eat a truly good cookie. Will make these devine looking delights & weigh in later.
ReplyDeleteMouthwatering pic's!
I don't think I've ever had a snickerdoodle. I always go for the chocolate chip or oatmeal raisin - but with this kind of declaration I am certainly going to have to try one!
ReplyDeletemy VERY favorite cookie - EVER. These look melt-in-your-mouth amazing.
ReplyDeleteI agree, nothing quite like a Snickerdoodle. Just the name itself is a party.
ReplyDeleteOh.... the snickerdoodle is almost the cookie of all cookies... bless you for sharing such a yummy recipe! My family thanks you!
ReplyDeleteHUgs.. Amy
no recipe?!!! i love snickerdoodles but haven't found a truly great recipe yet...
ReplyDeleteThere is absolutely no shame in your admission. I love me a good snickerdoodle, too.
ReplyDeleteI want one now!
ReplyDeleteI'm ashamed to admit that I've never tried a Snickerdoodle. I must fix this-now!
ReplyDeleteI've never had a snickerdoodle, nor do I think I could list its characteristics... but I have to say these do look and sound wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI can pick a favorite candy bar (Take 5) but not a favorite cookie! Snickerdoodles are definitely up there, though partly because of their sweet goodness, but also partly b/c of their kickass name :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder about the cinnamon celebration! You're just about the only person who may love cinnamon more than me. I need to get my recipe in!
Snickerdoodles are the best! I LOVE cinnamon!
ReplyDeleteI want a snickerdoodle now! It's been so long since I had one. I like the warm with a glass of milk on the side! YUM!
ReplyDeleteyum! i'll have it anytime..and the addition of cinnamon is brilliant.
ReplyDeleteSounds like I'm missing out on something!! I've never had snikerdoodles before!
ReplyDeleteI love snickerdoodles too, the name alone is so cool!! And the added cinnamon/sugar!! To die for!
ReplyDeletethose look so tasty! they're such a photogrnic cookie!
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I saw the picture of the snickerdoodles, I thought, that makes perfect sense: Grace loves cinnamon, snickerdoodles are perfect!
ReplyDeleteThis post makes me think I have just never had a good snickerdoodle. :) Which is entirely possibly seeing as I have never had a homemade one!
ReplyDeleteI so love these cookies, they are right up there in being my favorite but I have to keep it true to my chocolate chip cookie.
ReplyDeletemmmmmm..snickerdoodles are awesome!
ReplyDeleteThat this is your favorite cookie makes perfect sense! but helloo, is there a favorite recipe you can pass along? something extremely buttery and decadent perhaps?
ReplyDeleteWow, what a declaration! I don't think I can ever bravely declare my favourite type of cookie, but I assure you snickerdoodles are definitely top of the list. And with your freshly grated Vietnamese cinnamon, I can see why you're bowled over!
ReplyDeleteI've never tried a snickerdoodle. I will have to remedy that soon!!
ReplyDeleteThis is the only cookie my very picky seven year old will eat. He adores them. We are making snickerdoodle ice cream soon!
ReplyDeleteYES! I was guessing snicker doodles! I know you love cinnamon, but I love overloading them with fresh nutmeg. Oh,so warm and good.
ReplyDeleteOne of my fav cookies too is snickerdoodles and the addition of cinnamon/sugar is what makes them divine!
ReplyDeleteRosie x
I love snickerdoodles too - there's a restaurant near me that serves ice cream with huge chunks of snickerdoodle in it!
ReplyDeleteNot only do I not have a favourite snickerdoodle recipe...I've never even had a snickerdoodle!
ReplyDelete*hangs head in shame*
I'll give this recipe a try and see what I've been missing my whole life.
I must agree - Snickerdoodle cookies when done right are my very favorite!!
ReplyDeleteSnickerdoodles are my favorite cookie--after PB, of course. :)
ReplyDeleteWould it be crazy to go to Vietname for the cinnamon alone?
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've reached my full snickerdoodle potential. I may have to try this recipe, albeit with sub-par cinnamon.
I have never made a Snickerdoodle in my life. Actually, I never heard of a Snickerdoodle. Can't wait to give it a try.
ReplyDeleteSnickerdoodles are great! Love 'em! And your picture of them makes them look extra tasty!
ReplyDeleteI have never had a Snickerdoodle. This seems to be Snickerdoodle central! My sons love cinnamon so much that they swipe sticks from my pantry and chew on them! I'll try to whip up a batch of these!
ReplyDeleteI'm more of a chocolate chip girl, but my husband and oldest daughter LOVE snickerdoodles. I don't even care to think about the number of snickerdoodles I've made over the years. Your's really do looks oh so yummy!!
ReplyDeleteI think you were reading my mind as I was thinking of making up a batch of these. My favorite is the snickerdoodle cake. The frosting is to die for!!
ReplyDeleteThey are my favorite cookie.
ReplyDeleteGrace these are the best looking snickerdoodes I seen in a long time! I love that picture!!
ReplyDeleteOooh, nummers! I never knew how much I liked snickerdoodles until recently.
ReplyDeleteYours are drool-worthy!
Nice sugar cinnamon-y photo! My family loves snickerdoodles. My daughter found a nice recipe and it makes good cookies. Still, my favorite Snickerdoodles were discovered when I used to go on bookstore outings with my son. We would look through our selections in the cafe at Borders. My son would order a mocha and a huge thick Snickerdoodle - warm. It was chewier than most Snickerdoodles I've had, and had a nice flavor. I wish I could find a recipe like that one!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that I don't think I've ever had a snickerdoodle, but these look like they would melt in your mouth. I can't eat alot of cookies because most have chocolate and caffeine doesn't sit well with me. I love cinnamon and I will definitely give these a try.
ReplyDeleteDare I ask for a care package be sent to me? There - I said it.
ReplyDeleteI thinking these would also be good crumbled over French Vanilla ice cream.
Snickerdoodle, cinnamony loveliness. YUM. ANd I agree with Peter, sprinkle them over ice cream. Then they would so be detrimental to your wardrobe!
ReplyDeleteI really need to try snickerdoodles! They look so good!
ReplyDeleteThey are my favorite as well. I think they are a very under rated cookie but these sure look tasty.
ReplyDeleteYou know that I too love snickerdoodles. They are perfect.I am eagerly waiting for the round up and keeping fingers crossed.Love cinnamon
ReplyDeleteI think that is what heaven must look like.
ReplyDeleteI have never had a Snickerdoodle but they really look great. They look a lot like the sugar cookies I make. But...where is the recipe for them. Have I missed it somewhere or do you not post it? I really want to try them.
