...and by worse, I mean far, far better.
Seriously--this is addictive stuff for any peppermint fan, and it just so happens that I am a lover of all things peppermint. No, lover doesn't really cut the mustard. I'm a peppermint-infatuate. A peppermint-fiend. President of the Peppermint Fan Club. You get the picture.
These things being said, it's no surprise that I only allow myself to make this treat once a year. Self-control seems to fly right out the window when my tongue hits that first creamy, sweet, minty bite. It's imperative that the candy be bagged immediately, securely tied with a double-knotted string, and into the hands of my friends and neighbors as soon as possible.
Did I mention that this fudge is kinda tasty?
I-Can't-Stop-Putting-This-In-My-Mouth Mint Fudge
(based on this recipe)
12 ounce package vanilla chips
16 ounce can vanilla frosting
1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
8 drops red food coloring
crushed peppermint candies or candy canes or a smattering of peppermint sprinkles
Line an 8-inch square pan with wax paper. Melt the vanilla chips in the microwave, stirring until smooth. Mix in the frosting and peppermint extract. Spread the creamy goodness into the prepared pan. Drip the food coloring over the fudge and swirl decoratively with a knife. Sprinkle with crushed candies and chill until set.
Good luck trying to pace yourself.
I'm sure i'd have a hard time resisting them...oh I wouldn't be able to stop myself from putting this in my mouth too :-D
ReplyDeleteWish I were your neighbour!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh man, that looks good! I will be making this to put on my cookie trays....or eating it all myself if I feel like it :-)
ReplyDeleteThat fudge has got a lot going for it. Like the fact that it is pink, it is sugary, and it is fudge. Might have to help myself to a pan of it this weekend.
ReplyDeleteI have never heard/thought of peppermint fudge! Sounds delicious and looks so pretty!!
ReplyDeleteHmmm, a peppermint fetishist perhaps?
ReplyDeleteThese look deceivingly like they would taste of strawberry shortcake, only to surprise one with candy cane flava!
Those look yummy! I have been trying to think of a new Christmas candy to make this year...I may have to try these!
ReplyDeleteGrace this look really amazing and yummy!! Gloria
ReplyDeleteI've heard of making fudge this way but never tried it, Grace these pictures are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWe would absolutely love this. So festive!!
ReplyDeleteSo, you kind of like these then ;)
ReplyDeleteWow! That's gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThose look like snow, so pretty. I love that you are a peppermint-aholic. LOL
ReplyDeleteVery festive indeed.
....did I forget to give you my current address ?
ReplyDelete:)
Ok. So because you are a peppermint fiend, how do you feel about peppermint with chocolate? a muddied match or peas-in-a-pod perfection?
ReplyDeleteCinnamon and peppermint (although not at the same time)? I guess we both love the same stuff. This is really pretty.
ReplyDeleteOh, my! It looks so creamy and delicious, a nice change from the usual chocolate fudge.
ReplyDeleteI've never had peppermint fudge before...it not only looks really tasty but pretty too. You always make me drool.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, a white fudge! That will have me at the gym several extra times.
ReplyDeleteWhy? Why have you done this to me? I'm going to be the size of a house. I love peppermint as well and this fudge looks like equal parts festive and delicious!
ReplyDeleteOh wow - looks like coconut ice but tastes like a peppermint cream! Beautiful! I love the way mint candy feels lighter because it tastes so fresh.
ReplyDeleteI can well imagine not being able to stop eating these!
ReplyDeleteLooks so good Grace. :-)
PRETTIEST thing I've seen this season, girl! I actually thought it was angel food when I first looked, bc it appeared so airy and light. Kept reading = FUDGE! Wow. Very cool.

Oh, it's so pretty! It's hard to stop looking at, so I imagine it must be hard to stop eating!
ReplyDeleteWow I 'd have to say that this would not last long at my house either. YIKES> It really is beautiful to look at. It just begs to be eaten!
ReplyDeleteOh. my. god.
ReplyDeleteI would like to continue fitting into my clothes, so I will avoid the temptation and not make these. Rather, I will sit and drool over their delicious beauty.
For the record, I've seen a lot of fudge in my day, but nothing that looks like this! How original. I love the look, so I know I'll love the taste.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, this is like sugar upon wonderful minty sugar. How can you go wrong? Totally my kind of treat. I may have to join the peppermint fan club as I am addicted as well.
ReplyDeleteThat fudge looks amazing, love the colours, I've never seen fudge that looks like that!
ReplyDeleteThis looks so festive. I could not resist it. But I would have to have a good cup of coffee to go with it.
ReplyDeleteOh my! Fellow peppermint addict here. Thanks, this will now probably become my drug of choice!
ReplyDeleteOhhhhhh thank goodness I just moved to a new state and have no friends or else I would be making this for everybody!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a peppermint fan. Not big on anything near the mint family actually, but these are so pretty and perfect for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI say YUM!!! I would eat them with you, that is if you would share.
ReplyDeleteHave you reached stalker status yet where you hang out for a while when you give them to someone hoping they put them on a plate and offer you some and then you sneak an extra when they aren't looking? I have actually done that. These sound easy which I need this time of year because working in the grocery store is so exhausting right now. And yummy which is perfect.
ReplyDeleteGeez it's so festive, I love it! I must make it.
ReplyDeleteit looks, it looks, i don't want to sound like a dork and say that it looks cool, but it looks so cool!
ReplyDeleteMy first thoughts were "Fudge? FUDGE? It's fudge, right? OH SWEET! FUDGE!"
ReplyDeleteI have just a bit of a thing for fudge. SO fricking good!
Wow so easy too! This looks very pretty Grace. I am a peppermint fan too, especially this time fo year!
ReplyDeleteVery festive! You did a great job with the swirling which is a problem area for me.
ReplyDeleteI do not fear vanilla chips. I do not fear the vanilla chips. I'm psyching myself up. The last time I tried melting the chips they won!
~ingrid :-)
Genius! That fudge sounds so good! And it is pretty too! I love it!
ReplyDeleteOMG, my mouth is watering!
ReplyDeleteme too! that looks very dangerous, maybe drizzled with chocolate...
ReplyDeletewow! i am sure that is delicious but boy is it beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a lotta fun, I love the colors and flavors! It reminds me of snow...with bits of red...and tastier :D.
ReplyDeleteYou can buy frosting in a can????? We are really missing out here in Australia!!! I adore peppermint as well. I think we could come to blows over this fudge.
ReplyDeleteOMG..I have never seen such pepperminty goodness
ReplyDeleteThis looks so pretty, I'm sure it tastes good too!
ReplyDeleteOh yum, peppermint fudge...sounds delish. If you are such the peppermint fan check out my blog this weekend there is a recipe you would probably like.
ReplyDeleteOh my, thank you! This looks divine!
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun recipe!! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to make this fudge - I am a huge peppermint fan too. One question though... are you talking about the quick melt candy vanilla chips that you melt and pour into molds or is this chips you buy in a bag with the semi-sweets, white chocolate chips, etc?
ReplyDeletecreativecarryout:
ReplyDeletei'm referring to the chips that come in a bag like the other chocolate morsels, not the quick-melt kind (although they might work too).
I discovered your blog earlier this week, and this mint fudge was at the top of the page. I made it last night and it is FANTASTIC! It reminds me of those little soft mints that you can sometimes find in the stores. Not an overwhelming minty taste, and a refreshing change from the heavy chocolate fudges that you find everywhere around the holidays. Many thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteI made these...boy were they fantastic!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beauty, Grace!
ReplyDeleteThis looks great as does the 'nanner pudding...that's always a winner! I am afraid, however, if I make the mint fudge it might replace peanut butter fudge as my favorite.
ReplyDeleteThat looks cool, u have amazing blog.
ReplyDeleteThe worst part of being MIA is seeing a recipe that you could have made for Christmas treats! Doh! Well, Grace, I am bookmarking this for next year for sure!
ReplyDeleteumm, I have a question: are "vanilla chips" the same as "white chocolate chips"? Thanks :)
ReplyDeletei don't think they are! i used nestle premier white morsels which are vanilla-flavored, but ya know what? white chocolate would be even better.
ReplyDeleteOh.My.Goodness!! I am so happy that I found your blog! I love everything I have seen, and in case you can't tell by my name, I am peppermint obsessed as well :)! I am also southern, and love Jim Halpert - ha! I am definitely going to make this for Christmas (and a couple of your other phenomenal recipes)!
ReplyDeleteI'm such a sucker for all things peppermint!
ReplyDeleteThis looks so yummy!
