A Southern Grace: for the purist

for the purist

Yum

I’ve often heard people proclaim “Oh, fudge!” and mean it as a profanity. That just seems wrong to me--fudge should in no way be associated with anything negative. In my eyes, it’s a gift from God. Manna from Heaven, if you will. Would you agree?

Although I personally prefer my mint fudge, this version by my Mammacita is for the chocolate purist. If ever anything melted in your mouth, this is it. It’s smooth and creamy, as fudge should be, but some of its appeal is that it’s not too rich. It seems to be the perfect balance of decadent chocolate and subtle sweetness. Kudos to you, Mamster. Kudos to you. And by kudos, I mean bear hugs and more fudge.

Fudge a la Mammicus
18 oz semisweet chocolate chips (1 1/2 bags)
14 oz condensed milk
1 tablespoon peanut butter
1 cup marshmallow crème

Combine chocolate chips and condensed milk in a heat-safe bowl and microwave in intervals until chips are melted. Stir in the peanut butter and marshmallow crème and mix until thoroughly combined. Pour mixture into an 8x8" pan lined with wax paper and refrigerate until set. Cut into bite-sized morsels of delight.

Just when I think my fudge cravings have disappeared with the holidays! It's not even 8 am, and because of this post I am throwing chocolate bits into my yogurt. :)

Is it sad to admit that fudge was my first love? And from simple recipes to the ones that are a p.i.t.a. to make, I love them all!

WOW! This looks amazing and simple. I am totally going to make some this weekend!!!!

No, I never say "Oh, fudge!" It's always considerably less polite than that. Fudge is a good thing, and is usually used as in "Oh, fudge, please! Not too much, just enough to satisfy the chocoholic in me!"

Thanks to your Mammicus for sharing her fudge recipe! I can't believe how simple but good it looks :)

The kind of fudge I crave all depends on my mood, kind of like my taste in music :). I could go for this right now...and the mint fudge, I feel gluttonous, that's the mood I'm in! :)

When I exclaim "oh fudge!" its not taking the fudge's name in vain. Rather, I'm thinking to myself "if only I had eaten fudge, my lack of good judgement wouldn't have happened."

Enough of my craziness...this looks amazing!

I've never made fudge before, this looks like a good way to start.

I believe that I could live on fudge alone. I collect fudge recipes like some people collect fine antiques.

Wow this sounds like a really easy way to make fudge. I just recently made fudge for father as a Christmas recipe. It took a decent amount of work and timing. I think these chocolaty and decadent.

Some of my earliest cooking memories are of making chocolate fudge with my mom - I used to eat all the little blobs of fudge that she put in cold water to test whether it had been boiled long enough :) I love the sound of peanut butter in the recipe!
